4 Bedroom House

Nestled in the leafy streets of Petersham on the traditional lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples, this classic Federation home transformation rectifies a historically disjointed, gloomy, and poorly ventilated layout through a complete spatial reimagining. To unlock the site's potential, the internal programming was radically inverted.

Bedrooms are now consolidated on the raised ground floor, fostering spatial cohesion and providing elevated views over the gardens. This strategic shift liberates the previously under-utilised lower ground floor, transforming it into a bright, open-plan living environment. Capitalising on a northern orientation, these newly activated living spaces flow seamlessly into the rear landscape.

At the architectural core, a two-storey light well drives abundant natural light and passive cross-ventilation deep into the floorplate. Positioned alongside this lush internal courtyard, the study captures a layered visual axis - looking through the void, across the living domain, and out to the pool.

Grounded by a soft, warm material palette that offsets the courtyard's deep greens, the design balances heritage charm with contemporary living, resulting in a highly functional sanctuary defined by serenity and a seamless connection to the outdoors..
